Identity Tattoo Parlor was opened in May of 2015 by artist Matt Calhoun. Over the years, Matt has had the honor of apprenticing several artists who have gone on to do amazing things, including opening their own studios.
Currently, we have another "studio" operating out of the same building. "Tattoos For Cool Folks", which is owned by Matt Marshall. However, Matt & Matt have a combined 35 years of experience, all over the nation.
2025 is setting up to be the best year for Identity Tattoo, as we are growing and expanding at a rapid rate.
We believe that EVERY single client is as important as the next. Whether it's a simple name on the wrist, a full Japanese full back masterpiece, straight lines around the arms, butterflies, matching tattoos, chicano lettering, traditional style tattoos, new school style tattoos, neo traditional tattoos, a portrait or a full sleeve of intricate geometric work... We have spent our years perfecting and mastering this craft. IF we can't do it, then we certainly know a local artist who can.
We believe that you can do a 100% perfect tattoo, but give the client 60% of your all (when you do NOT; talk to them, relate to them, get to know them, make them friends, etc...), it will always be a 70% tattoo. However, if you do an 85% perfect tattoo, but give that client 110% of your attention and appreciation, and most importantly, the respect that they deserve. There are HUNDREDS of shops in Columbus, so we are eternally grateful for your business and friendship.
Most importantly, we believe that no client should be forced to go to a "cheap studio", or worse, a Parlor Suite (where they do not require the artist to show ANY proof of prior experience and are staining the industry in a negative way), because they can't come up with the money. That being said, we ABSOLUTELY will work with people and their budgets. For some clients, we have even worked out payment plans. So, feel confident in knowing that we will work you on pricing, just let us know. We pride ourselves on being able to make everyone who desires it, to look and feel as excellent as they can.
We also are STRONG SUPPORTERS of Ohio's domestic violence laws and helping to progress EVERYONE forward. So, we will offer free to heavily discounted cover ups -- provided the client has a tattoo or brand mark on her from being trafficked.
Simply Put; We believe that people should all treat each other well, and let people be people. Never forget where we/you came from and always remember those that were/are good to you! We build a family! Not a list of clients!
Identity / Tattoos For Cool Folks have a TON of amazing things in store this year. We will be offering specialized flash days for nearly all holidays. We are starting to overflow and will need some walk in help here soon! We are a GREAT shop to grow in. Just look around the city at all the artist that got their start here!
